Lunch is one of the biggest monthly costs of student life — and the one where you can save the most without eating worse. The reason is simple: the state subsidises every meal and you only pay the difference.
Here are the numbers as they stand today, and how to get the most out of them.
What a subsidised meal actually costs
- State subsidy: €5.19 per meal (checked on 25 August 2026 at studentska-prehrana.si)
- Top-up with us: €2.55
- Total value of the meal: €7.74
So you pay €2.55 out of pocket for a meal worth €7.74.
What that adds up to in a month
If you use a voucher for lunch 20 days a month, the state contributes €103.80 on your behalf. You pay €51.00. The same meals without vouchers would cost you around €155.
How the voucher works
- You register in the Študentska prehrana app (ŠOS) and pay with your phone.
- You get two vouchers per day.
- There must be at least 4 hours between them.
- The system accepts vouchers from 7 am to midnight, no matter how late the place itself is open.
That last point matters here: we stay open later than the voucher is valid. After midnight you can still eat with us, you just can't pay with a voucher.
What €2.55 gets you with us
We have 19 dishes on student vouchers, and the €2.55 top-up covers a main dish, salad, an apple and a drink. For example:
- Döner kebab, jufka kebab or crispy jufka
- Falafel in flatbread and veggie kebab — both meat-free
- Crispy burger, chicken burger, hamburger and cheeseburger
- Every pizza: kebab, salami, tuna, margherita, vegetable and classic
- Chicken with rice or fries, and roast chicken

Five ways to get more out of it
- Use both vouchers. One a day is a habit, not a rule. The second one is dinner.
- Save the second voucher for the evening. Many kitchens close in the afternoon; we take vouchers until midnight.
- Mind the four-hour gap. The most common reason a lunch voucher is refused is a breakfast voucher used too early.
- The top-up is the same for every voucher dish. So pick the one that actually fills you up, not the cheapest one.
- Remember the opening hours. Trubarjeva: daily 9 am – 2 am, Fridays and Saturdays until 3 am. Slovenska 55: daily 8 am – 1 am.
